Auf Wunsch des Pfarrers Peter Coen von Thommen wurde der Bau dieser in Braunlauf 1704 von Erzbischof Joseph Clemens von Köln genehmigt. Bis dahin mussten die Dorfbewohner nach Thommen gehen, um ihren kirchlichen Verpflichtungen nachzukommen. Die Kapelle wurde zwei Jahre später fertiggestellt. 1898 wurde sie restauriert und mit einer Sakristei ausgestattet. Die Kirche hatte einen Westturm. Diesen sehen wir heute nicht mehr. Der Hauptaltar war dem heiligen Blasius geweiht. Als die neue Kirche etwas weiter im Dorf erbaut wurde, stand dieses Gebäude jahrelang leer und verfiel. Heute ist es ein privates Wohnhaus.
