Poesele is a village in the Belgian province of East Flanders and a part of the municipality of Deinze. South of the town flows the Poekebeek.An old mention of Poesele goes back to a charter from 1121 as Poksela. This name is an amalgamation of Poka or the Poekebeek, and sali, a Germanic word for a one-room farmhouse. The lordship of Poesele first belonged to the van Beveren family, viscounts of Diksmuide. From 1284 until the end of the ancien régime it fell under the lords of Nevele.
