Ooidonk Castle

The water castle stands grand, stern, and lush in an old bend of the Leie River and is surrounded by a beautiful park of 45 hectares. Ooidonk is sometimes described as one of the most beautiful castles in this country and often as a jewel of Flemish-Spanish 16th century architecture. The exterior of the castle with its many turrets, stepped gables, and chimneys evokes an image of the Loire castles like in Chambord. The interior allows visitors to become acquainted with rare pieces of furniture, historical objects, tapestries, and unique collections. The successive owners, including the current Count Juan t'Kint de Roodenbeke, have always strived to preserve the rural view around the estate.
