At the street side of the house, close to the driveway and the garage, there is a boxwood planted on a stem, presumably a remnant from a farmer's garden. The wide trunk circumference of this slow-growing species suggests a considerable age, possibly more than a hundred years. In the past, it was common to hedge boxwood, but there is no sign of such management anymore. The boxwood here is a small tree with a fairly free-growing crown.
