The route starts from Heteren on the Lower Rhine and follows you counterclockwise. The route goes briefly along the Lower Rhine and you then cross it (along the A50).
Then follow climbs and descents over the moraine around Doorwerth, namely:
- Boersberg (climb),
- Duno
- Holleweg Doorwerth (descent on asphalt cycle path)
- the beautiful Italian road (climb over clinker road through beech forest),
- Westerbouwing (climb),
- a descent on a narrow cycle path along the main road,
- first 500 meters of the van Borsselenweg (also known as Hemelseberg) followed by a concrete cycle path through the woods,
- Castle Road (climb)

The route then goes to Renkum, Wageningen and Bennekom where there are some climbs on the route (which are not difficult at all):
- Ginkelseweg
- Geertjesweg (note: descent is on a fairly narrow asphalt cycle path to Oranje Nassau's Oord)
- Wageningen Mountain South
- Zoom path
- Buissteeg
- Dikkenberg via Prins Hendrikweg (concrete cycle path along gravel road).

Then the route goes first over winding, then on straight roads through the southern part of the Gelderse Vallei, called Het Binnenveld. This used to be a raised bog area that was mined after the Middle Ages. Now there are many meadows, part of which has been set up as a nature reserve (hay grasslands). You then end up in the Utrechtse Heuvelrug where you get the following climbs for the wheels:
- Elsterberg (climb on cycle path along main road)
- the last 600 meters of the Defense Road
- Loam pit
- Thijmse Berg via the Verlengde Oude Veenendaalse weg
- Laarsenberg

In Rhenen there are a few traffic lights to cross busy roads, and then cross the Lower Rhine via the Rhine bridge. Then it is about 16 km cycling along the Lower Rhine (and usually in the Netherlands the wind comes from the west, so there is a good chance that you have wind at your back).
