Il campo di Elsterhorst si trovava a Elsterhorst nell'attuale comune di Elsterheide presso Hoyerswerda nel allora distretto di Liegnitz, provincia della Bassa Slesia.
Il campo, costruito tra il 1938 e il 1939, servì inizialmente alla Wehrmacht tedesca come campo principale per la maggior parte dei prigionieri di guerra polacchi e cechi e successivamente come campo per ufficiali per la maggior parte dei prigionieri di guerra francesi.
