Si trova a sud-ovest della città di Leeuwarden e a nord di Sneek, tra Winsum e Baard. Nel villaggio si incontrano il Franekervaart e il Bolswardertrekvaart, noto anche come Het Kruiswater, presso il quale si trova un campeggio. Il centro del villaggio si trova appena a ovest della N384. Nel 2021 il villaggio contava 415 abitanti. Tra i territori del villaggio ci sono anche le frazioni di Schrins, Wammerd e Wieuwens. Anche l'unica casa rimasta della ex frazione di Langwerd rientra sotto Oosterlittens.
