Die heutige neoklassizistische Kirche wurde 1842 erbaut, nachdem die alte gotische Kirche zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts verfallen war, und ihre Geschichte reicht bis ins 12. Jahrhundert zurück.
Im Inneren der Kirche hängt über dem Altar das Gemälde „Die Predigt des Heiligen Lambertus“, des Schutzpatrons der Textilarbeiter, nach dem die Kirche benannt ist. Auch der Altar selbst ist etwas Besonderes. Es enthält einen Blaustein aus dem Mausoleum von Jan III. van Poeke, dem letzten Nachkommen der ursprünglichen Lords of Poeke.
Der umliegende Friedhof , hauptsächlich auf der Nordseite der Kirche, enthält Grabsteine der Herren von Schloss Poeke und bietet einen Überblick über Grabdenkmäler des 20. Jahrhunderts.
