The church of Schin op Geul was built as early as the eleventh century, from which time the nave of the church dates. It is one of the oldest churches in Limburg.
In the many centuries that followed, the church was expanded and rebuilt several times (most recently in 1927) into
the current structure of marl and Kunrader stone.
Of particular note are the nine crosses from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and the tombstone of the De Villers de Pité family, former owners of East Castle.
