Questo cimitero fu avviato nel giugno del 1917, quando un'espansione del Cimitero Militare di Vlamertinghe non era più possibile a causa della mancanza di spazio e in preparazione per la grande offensiva (Terza Battaglia di Ypres). Il cimitero rimase in uso fino all'ottobre del 1918. La maggior parte delle tombe risale al periodo da luglio a dicembre del 1917. A Vlamertinge erano stanziati diversi reparti di artiglieria, il che spiega perché 884 dei 1820 morti appartenessero all'artiglieria.
