Bühl è una città nel ovest del Baden-Württemberg, a circa dieci chilometri a sud-ovest di Baden-Baden. È la terza città più grande del distretto di Rastatt, dopo la città capoluogo Rastatt e la città di Gaggenau, e forma un centro intermedio per i comuni circostanti. Dal 1 gennaio 1973, Bühl è una Grande città di distretto. Con il comune di Ottersweier, la città di Bühl ha stipulato una comunità amministrativa convenzionata.
Bühl si trova a un altitudine compresa tra 123 e 1038 metri, in mezzo a un paesaggio panoramico a tre livelli. Questo si estende dalla pianura del Reno, caratterizzata dall'agricoltura, fino alla zona collinare, dove dominano la viticoltura e la frutticoltura, fino alle montagne del Schwarzwald utilizzate per l'industria forestale. La città si trova su entrambi i lati del Bühlot e del suo corso inferiore, il Sandbach.
