Il Vecchio Municipio della città di Haltern am See fu 1575 - 1577 costruito sul lato nord della piazza del mercato con frontoni rinascimentali.
Dopo ingenti danni causati dall'ultima guerra mondiale, fu ricostruito in forma semplificata tra il 1948 e il 1952.
Negli anni 1997/1998 è stato rinnovato per la prima volta dopo questa ricostruzione. Oggi si presenta come un edificio a due piani in posizione di teste, con il piano terra aperto in un portico di quattro arcate a sesto acuto.
