La GTA entra nella parte meridionale della Regione Piemonte tra la Val Pellice e la Valle Po (Tappa 50) in corrispondenza del massiccio del Monviso. Si aggira la montagna simbolo del Piemonte con diverse possibilità in variante e poi si scende in Valle Varaita. Da questo punto in poi si può scegliere se seguire il tracciato principale che si mantiene nelle parti medie delle valli occitane o una variante più impegnativa che corre a quote maggiori tra Val Varaita, Maira e Stura. Arrivati nelle Alpi Marittime il tracciato principale si mantiene relativamente in quota e viene proposta una possibile variante bassa per scoprire la Val Vermenagna. L'ultima tratto permette di aggirare il Marguareis, la cima più elevata delle Alpi Liguri, attraversando i particolari ambienti carsici della zona e di scendere infine nella Valle Tanaro fino ad Ormea dove termina l'itinerario.
