Das schmalste Haus Antwerpens ist kaum 2,23 Meter breit und steht in der Huikstraat. Aber auch in Deurne-Noord finden Sie Häuser, deren Fassadenbreite äußerst begrenzt ist. Es handelt sich dabei um die oft nur 3,7 Meter breiten Conforta-Häuser, die zwischen 1925 und 1930 von der NV Comptoir Général du Bâtiment – Bouwonderneming Conforta errichtet wurden.
Neben den schmalen Confortas finden Sie in diesem Viertel auch Häuser mit den für diese Bauweise so typischen zwei Eingangstüren. Dort wohnen immer zwei Familien mit jeweils einem eigenen Eingang. Conforta behauptete, Eigenheime auch für Arbeiter erschwinglich zu machen, ignorierte dabei aber aus reiner Gewinnsucht nach Belieben die geltenden Bauvorschriften.
