Rabanus-Maurus-Gymnasium er en klassisk uddannelsesinstitution, hvilket betyder, at latin blive undervist som det første fremmedsprog samtidig med engelsk som det andet fremmedsprog. Fra 7. klasse er tre sprog obligatoriske. Gymnasiet lægger i sin uddannelse vægt på de sproglige, musikalske og matematiske-naturvidenskabelige områder. Den sproglige vægt er ikke begrænset til de klassiske sprog – der er for eksempel langvarige udvekslingskontakter med Frankrig, Italien, Holland, England, Kina, Polen og De Forenede Stater.
