Landsbyen Langenholtensen ligger umiddelbart nord for Northeim's kerneby. Den ligger mellem Edesheimer Skov i nord, Rethoberg i nordøst, Fachberg i øst, Galgenberg i sydvest og Sultmerberg i vest på 115 til 150 m over havets overflade. Syd for dette, på den anden side af Rhumetals, ligger Wieter.
Der flyder en Düne gennem Langenholtensen fra nord til syd, som på den sydlige kant af byen får tilløb fra Leimkebach, der kommer fra Brunstein, hvorefter Düne efter et par hundrede meter løber ud i den østlige Laine-biflod Rhume.
