El edificio que se construyó durante el siglo XV junto al Belfort es la Lakenhalle. Era un lugar comercial donde se ofrecía la tela aprobada a la venta. Sin embargo, a partir del siglo XVIII, el edificio sirvió como prisión de la ciudad. Por esta razón, se construyó un pequeño edificio en la fachada lateral de la Lakenhalle. Fue concebido por David 't Kindt y funcionó como entrada a la prisión y como vivienda de los carceleros.
