Una gran parte del Fuerte 7 está protegida como área natural, pero no la zona fuera del foso a lo largo de la Moerelei. Este fuerte tiene murallas notablemente más altas que los otros ejemplares de la línea de fuertes. Desde la capa exterior, esto se puede ver bien al otro lado del foso. En el borde exterior, hoy se han organizado algunas actividades recreativas, como una zona de paseo para perros, un arboreto y un club de pesca. Este último utiliza el gran foso, a lo largo de las orillas se han acondicionado numerosos lugares de pesca.
