L'edificio che fu costruito accanto al Belfort nel XV secolo è la Lakenhalle. Era un negozio dove veniva venduto il panno approvato. Tuttavia, a partire dal XVIII secolo, l'edificio svolse anche la funzione di prigione cittadina. Per questo motivo, fu costruito un piccolo edificio sul lato della Lakenhalle. Fu concepito da David 't Kindt e fungeva da ingresso per la prigione e da abitazione per le guardie.
