Torri cittadine
Si scrive l'anno 1263. La più antica impressione del sigillo della città di Borken sotto il documento mostra un castello romanico costruito con potenti blocchi.
La muraglia del castello con i suoi merli e il doppio portone è sovrastata da potenti torri cittadine. Oggi rimangono visibili solo resti della muraglia.
Cinque torri cittadine medievali - la Torre dei Ladri, la Torre di Holken, la Torre di Kuhm, la Torre di Wedemhove e la Torre dei Mulini a Vento, sono tuttavia ben conservate.
