Rail ride along the historic railway line 163A Muno - Sainte Cécile

This route takes you along the abandoned railway line 163A which is now a Ravel path along which you can cycle and walk. In addition to the old railway line, the retreat takes place along ancient abandoned paths with its own character and through the Roche à l'Appel Nature Reserve, an impressive rock formation of stone pudding that formed the border of a prehistoric sea. This is evidenced by the many fossils that can be found in the region.

Parking spaces can be found in the centre of Muno, on the site of the old train station. From here we follow the railway way north towards Sainte Cécile. If you walk around the station site, you will find a restored water tower that powers the steam trains and also a "touching plate" with a turntable to operate the locomotives.
You follow the road to Ravel until the N83 which we then turn left and then take the first road on the left (N488A). At the next intersection, you continue straight until you reach the railway bridge under which you walked, we take the path that leads directly to the forest. After 2 km we turn left until we return near the railway tracks. You will also notice concrete foundations in the area that were used in the construction of the railway line. We now follow a path to Roche à l'Appel that takes you up and above the pudding rock. Once we have done this, we make a big loop through the Muno forest along partially disappeared trails where the grass is often tall. Nevertheless, a beautiful route that brings you back quickly to Muno.
