Le couvent de Seligenthal a été fondé en 1231 en tant que couvent franciscain par le comte Heinrich de Sayn et sa femme Mechthild de Landsberg à Seligenthal, aujourd'hui un quartier de Siegburg. L'église conventuelle a été construite dans le style de transition rhénan. En 1803, le couvent des Minimes a été dissous lors de la sécularisation. Depuis 2019, des ermites de "Notre-Dame du Mont Carmel" se sont installés.
