La raffigurazione di Carlo V sul suo cavalletto è una copia di una più grande statua in bronzo fuso , alta circa quattro metri . Gli artisti Michael Elmgreen e Ingar Dragstedt lo hanno sviluppato nel 2012 per il progetto Fourt Plinth a Trafalgar Square a Londra.
Questa statua in bronzo , alta circa 1,50 m , è una rappresentazione idealizzata del giovane Carlo V a cavallo. L'imperatore Carlo V crebbe con sua zia Margherita d'Austria alla corte di Mechelen. Il Palazzo di Margherita d'Austria è poco più avanti e diagonalmente opposto. Margareta sceglie l'enorme Hof van Kamerijk come tenuta della sua vedova. Si chiama anche Kaiserhof perché l' imperatore Carlo vi soggiornò dal 1500 al 1515 .
