Els Jardins du Maïeur van ser creats l'any 1997 pel departament de parcs i jardins de la ciutat i estan situats en una terrassa sobre l'aparcament de l'ajuntament .
El traçat geomètric s'ha suavitzat amb la plantació d'arbres i arbustos grans i ben desenvolupats de diverses espècies: til·lers, boscos circulars, magnòlia alta, parrotia, corn americà, hamamelis, hortènsia enfiladissa, viburnum, etc.
El fresc dels valons a la paret que dóna als jardins és un homenatge als valons que han modelat tota una regió en àmbits tan diversos com la història, el cinema, la cultura i la política.
L'entrada principal és per la rue de Fer, el jardí es troba a la part posterior de l'ajuntament i hi ha una altra entrada per la Venelle des Capucins.
