L'actual església neoclàssica va ser construïda el 1842 després que l' antiga església gòtica es trobés en un estat ruïnós a principis del segle XIX i té una història que es remunta al segle XII.
Dins l'església, sobre l'altar penja la pintura La predicació de Sant Lambert, patró dels treballadors tèxtils, de qui pren el seu nom l'església. L'altar en si també és especial. Conté una pedra blava procedent del mausoleu de Jan III van Poeke, darrer descendent dels Senyors de Poeke originals.
El cementiri que envolta , principalment al costat nord de l'església, conté làpides dels senyors del castell de Poeke i ofereix una visió general dels monuments funeraris del segle XX.
