'Tato' 'pani' significa literalment 'primavera' càlida.
També és per això que Tatopani és més conegut. Fins a la dècada de 1980 va ser una gran atracció turística . Avui dia no es recomana viatjar a Tatopani especialment per les aigües termals (n'hi ha 2: Tatopani i Paudwar) , però els que vinguin pel Circuit de l'Annapurna definitivament les han de visitar.
A partir d'aquí el circuit de l'Annapurna puja fins a Ghorepani i Poon Hill , o més baixa fins a Beni. Aquí hi ha molt turisme.
El Kali Ghandaki és molt estret des d'aquí i, per tant, el congost és profund i impressionant.
El 2015 , Tatopani també va ser afectat pel terratrèmol que va matar prop de 9.000 persones.
