Dette er en gade, der egentlig burde hedde 'Daman gade'. Arbejderfamilien, aktiv i modstanden. I februar 1944 rykkede Gestapo ind i deres bolig på Pleinstraat. Faderen blev deporteret til Buchenwald via Breendonk. Datteren Hortense og hendes mor endte i Ravensbrück. De overlevede alle koncentrationslejren. Hortense giftede sig i 1946 med den britiske soldat Syd Clews, som hun havde hjulpet med at flygte til England som modstandskæmper under krigen. I hendes nye hjemby Newcastle-under-Lyme blev gaden Clews Walk opkaldt efter hende. Mark Bles dedikerede en bog til hendes modstands liv med titlen: Child at War, oversat til hollandsk og udgivet af Standaard forlaget.
