Passet ligger mellem byerne Courgenay og Saint-Ursanne mod vest og Develier mod øst. Passhøjden ligger på 856 m.o.h. Passet lå indtil 2009 i området af kommunen Asuel, som i dag er en del af La Baroche.
Passet forbinder regionerne Freiberge og Clos du Doubs. Med åbningen af jernbanelinjen Delémont–Delle i 1877 faldt trafikken over passet. Siden 1998 har biltrafikken kunnet omgå passet gennem de vestligt og sydligt beliggende tunneler på motorvej 16.
