Den uckermärkiske kommune Grünow ligger umiddelbart øst for distriktsbyen Prenzlau i et grundmoræneområde, der strækker sig mellem de parallelle dale Ucker og Randow. Det bakkede område præges af mange små søer og sumpe samt intensiv landbrug.
Byen ligger ved Grünower Sø. I nærheden af byen findes i sydvestlig retning Nord- og Sødkoppelsøen, længere mod sydvest Moosbruchsøerne i Moosbruch-området.
