Steinhuder Meer-Bahn AG drev en 52,7 kilometer lang smalsporet jernbanelinje fra Wunstorf via Steinhude, Bad Rehburg, Stolzenau til Uchte og en seks kilometer lang, først tre-skinnet, senere kun normalsporet linje fra Wunstorf til Bokeloh.
Den 21. maj 1898 blev første etape fra Wunstorf med endestation ved Hotel Ritter til Bad Rehburg taget i brug. Yderligere delstrækninger fulgte den 29. oktober 1898 til Rehburg Stadt, den 9. december 1898 til Stolzenau, den 1. april 1899 til Nendorf og den 2. maj 1899 til Uchte Kleinbahnhof. Her var der forbindelse til Mindener Kreisbahnen. Således kunne man rejse på smalsporsskinner fra Wunstorf via Uchte og Minden til Lübbecke i Westfalen.
