Kleist-teateret blev åbnet i Frankfurt i 1945 og var et operahus og skuespilhus. Det blev i 1952 opkaldt efter byens mest kendte søn, forfatteren Heinrich von Kleist. I år 2000 lukkede den kommunale institution.
Fra 1840 til 1842 blev der på Wilhelmsplatz 22 opført et teaterbyggeri efter tegninger af Karl Friedrich Schinkel af byingeniør Emil Flaminius, som blev indviet den 1. november 1842 med Lortzings opera Zar og Zimmermann og herefter husede byens teater i Frankfurt. Teatret havde oprindeligt 800, senere 609 pladser. I foråret 1945 blev det ødelagt af bomber.
