Området dækker cirka 1900 hektar og består hovedsageligt af skovarealer, herunder mange fyrretræer på sandjord. Tæt på byen løber Elbe-sidekanalen forbi. Her ligger også det 100 hektar store rekreative område Bernsteinsee med den cirka ti hektar store sø. Tæt på byen findes en sejlflyveplads tilhørende Aero-Club Wolfsburg e. V.
Stüde fik opmærksomhed på tværs af regioner i 1975, da der den 8. august udbrød en skov- og hedebrand, der kom ud af kontrol, hurtigt sprang over Elbe-sidekanalen og udviklede sig til den størst arealmæssige af de katastrofale skovbrande denne sommer.
