Nyborg Slot har været et af de danske kongers foretrukne residenser. Efter Svenskekrigene i 1650'erne blev det udbygget til en fæstning med voldsystemer og store bastioner, som vi i dag kan opleve resterne af. På Dronningens Bastion ses fire 18 punds kanoner, model 1753, fremstillet efter originaltegninger fra Tøjhusmuseet, samt to originale 84 punds svære granatkanoner, system 1834.
