Chartres er en by og hovedstad i Eure-et-Loir-afdelingen i Frankrig. Den ligger omkring 90 km sydvest for Paris. Ved folketællingen i 2019 var der 170.763 indbyggere i storbyområdet Chartres, hvoraf 38.534 boede i selve Chartres. Chartres er verdenskendt for sin katedral. Størstedelen blev bygget mellem 1193 og 1250, og denne gotiske katedral er i en exceptionel bevaringsstand. Størstedelen af de originale glasmosaikvinduer er bevaret intakt, mens arkitekturen kun har set mindre ændringer siden begyndelsen af det 13. århundrede. En del af den gamle by, herunder størstedelen af biblioteket tilknyttet Skolen i Chartres, blev ødelagt af de allieredes bomber i 1944.
