Byen Tours ligger ved sammenløbet af floderne Loire og Cher. Byen har et smukt gammelt historisk centrum, hvilket står i kontrast til byens ydre, der er præget af høje lejlighedsbyggerier.
I den gamle bykerne findes der mange lige boulevarder, hvor der er mange butikker, restauranter og barer. I Rue Colbert, byens hovedgade, er der mange smukke offentlige bygninger og en fantastisk katedral. Langs Loire og Cher er det muligt at gå på de dertil indrettede stier. Nogle andre seværdigheder inkluderer Chateau Royal, klosterkirken St. Julien og katedralen St. Gatien.
