Det såkaldte spærringsværk Plätzwiese ligger på 2040 m højde på det høje plateau Plätzwiese nær Dürrensteinhütte. Det ligger præcist på grænsen mellem de sydtyrolske kommuner Toblach og Prags. Opgaven for værket var sammen med værket Landro at sikre Höhlensteintal/Stollatal og dermed adgangen til Pustertal, især da landsbyen og gryden ved Cortina d'Ampezzo blev opgivet af østrigerne i maj 1915, og først Monte Piano forhindrede gennembruddet. Det tilhørte systemet af østrigske befæstninger ved grænsen til Italien.
