Villaen blev opført i 1897 efter projekt af ingeniør Baraggioli på commission af doktor Federico Demaria, leder af hospitalet i Ivrea og mand til Angela Baratti, der tilhørte den kendte familie af confetti-producenter fra Milano. Byggearbejderne blev udført af firmaet Pilatone. Costantino Nigra-gaden, langs hvilken villaen ligger, var på den tid en af de mest udviklede gader i Eporedia, da den var arterien, der via den nye bro forbinde det historiske centrum af byen med stationen.
