Die unterirdische U-Bahn-Station wurde am 5. Juli 1985 zusammen mit Stuyvenbergh und Heizel zur Verlängerung der U-Bahn-Linie 1A von Bockstael zur Heizel eröffnet. Seit der Überarbeitung des U-Bahn-Netzes im Jahr 2009 wird diese Station von der U-Bahn-Linie 6 bedient.
Houba-Brugmann liegt unter der Houba de Strooperlaan im Nordwesten der Stadt, nahe dem Universitätskrankenhaus UVC Brugmann. In Gehweite befindet sich die Endstelle Stadion der Straßenbahnlinien 51 und 93.
