Description

Die Hageland unterscheidet sich von anderen Regionen durch seine Diestiaan- oder Zeugenhügel. Diese Hügel sind die Sandbänke, die zurückblieben, als sich das Diestiaansee vor etwa 7 Millionen Jahren zurückzog. Sobald die Sandbank mit der Luft in Kontakt kam, oxidierte das Eisen und der Sand verklumpte zu einem harten, rostbraunen Eisen-Sandstein.
