Ein Sprachproblem kostete hier an einem Tag acht Menschen das Leben und zwölf Personen wurden verletzt. Hier ereignete sich am 27. März 2001 ein Zugunglück. Ein Fahrdienstleiter in Waver hatte gesehen, dass ein Zug das Signal ignoriert hatte und dass ein Zug aus Leuven aus entgegenkommender Richtung herankam. Der Fahrdienstleiter aus Waver rief den Fahrdienstleiter aus Leuven an, um die Stromversorgung der Oberleitung abzuschalten und die Züge zum Halten zu bringen. Beide verstanden sich nicht. Und die Züge prallten frontal aufeinander. Man sieht jetzt noch eine Inschrift auf zwei Tafelplatten aus Ardur. Die Inschrift ist in zwei Sprachen angebracht.
