Maele Castle, Brugge
Maele Castle ist eine ehemalige Burg in Male, einst ein separates Dorf, jetzt Teil von Sint-Kruis, einem Vorort von Brugge, Westflandern, Belgien. Die Gebäude, die nach der Zerstörung im Zweiten Weltkrieg fast vollständig wieder aufgebaut und restauriert wurden, beherbergten von 1954 bis 2011 die Abtei St. Trudo.
Die Ursprünge der Burg reichen bis ins 9. Jahrhundert zurück, als ein Vertehturm zum Schutz des Gebiets um Brugge gegen die Wikinger diente. Male wurde zwischen 1168 und 1191 von Philip von Flandern, Graf von Flandern, gehalten, der die hölzerne Struktur durch eine aus Stein errichtete ersetzte, die eine Kapelle enthielt, die 1166 von dem ins Exil geflohenen Erzbischof von Canterbury, Thomas Becket, geweiht wurde.
