Mit der Aufforstung nach der Abholzung im Ersten Weltkrieg spielt die Buche nun die erste Geige im Musikwald. Die Buche lässt jedoch mit ihrer dichten Krone wenig Licht durch. Dadurch ist die Untervegetation im Wald lokal begrenzt. Glücklicherweise bilden wilde Hyazinthen, kleiner Maiglöckchen und Bärlauch hier jeden Frühling eine bunte Ausnahme. Gezieltes Abholzen von Bäumen in bestimmten Zonen wird den Musikwald langfristig in einen Mischwald mit Buche, Kirsche, Eiche und Esche umwandeln.
