Das Lapscheurse Gat ist ein Bach südlich von Sluis, der infolge der Überschwemmung von 1583 als Seitenarm des Zwin entstanden ist. Der Meereskanal führte zunächst bis nach Heille, aber 1591 brach auch dort der Deich, woraufhin sich der Kanal weiter ins Land vorwagte bis 1,5 km hinter Middelburg. So entstanden die Papenkreek und die Meulekreek. Ein Seitenarm des Lapscheursche Gat, der heutige Stierskreek, reichte und reicht bis Aardenburg. Auf der belgischen Seite findet man noch die Verloren Kreek, östlich des Dorfes Sint-Rita.
