Der Pass befindet sich zwischen den Orten Courgenay und Saint-Ursanne im Westen und Develier im Osten. Die Passhöhe liegt auf 856 m ü. M. Der Pass lag bis 2009 im Gebiet der Gemeinde Asuel, die heute Teil von La Baroche ist.
Der Pass verbindet die Regionen Freiberge und Clos du Doubs. Mit der Eröffnung der Bahnstrecke Delémont–Delle 1877 ging der Verkehr über den Pass zurück. Seit 1998 kann der Automobilverkehr den Pass durch die westlich und südlich gelegenen Tunnels der Autobahn 16 umfahren.
