Das Dorf Schleife, obersorbisch Slepo, ist der Sitz der gleichnamigen Gemeinde und der Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Schleife im Landkreis Görlitz in Ostsachsen. Seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre gehören die beiden Dörfer Rohne und Mulkwitz zur Gemeinde.
Schleife ist als Kirchort im sorbischen Siedlungsgebiet der Oberlausitz Zentrum der Schleifer Region, in der die Schleifer Tracht und der Schleifer Dialekt der sorbischen Sprache beheimatet sind. Im Schleifer Dialekt hat der Ort den nichtoffiziellen Namen Slěpe.
