Tönning ist eine Stadt und ein Bade- und Luftkurort im Kreis Nordfriesland, Schleswig-Holstein. Gelegen an der Eider, nahe deren Mündung in die Nordsee in der Nähe des Eidersperrwerks, verfügt die Stadt über einen Hafen, der bis zum Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts von großer Bedeutung war. Zu Tönning gehören die Ortsteile Kating, Katingsiel, Olversum und Groß Olversum.
