Die Alliierte Invasion in der Normandie oder Operation Overlord ab dem 6. Juni 1944 als Deckname für die in Nordfrankreich 1944 stattgefundene Landung der Westalliierten der Anti-Hitler-Koalition im Zweiten Weltkrieg führte im Westen Europas zur Errichtung der zweiten Front gegen das Deutsche Reich. Die Landung vorwiegend mit Hilfe von Schiffen und massiver Luftunterstützung erfolgte im Wesentlichen an der französischen Küste des Ärmelkanals östlich von Cherbourg in der Normandie. Der erste Tag wird auch D-Day oder der längste Tag genannt. Die erfolgreiche Landung brachte der Sowjetunion die seit längerem gewünschte Entlastung der Roten Armee beim Kampf gegen die Wehrmacht.
