Der Historiker De Sauviac aus Dakar berichtet, dass es in Laluque im 11. Jahrhundert eine romanische Kirche mit dem Titel: Sanctus Joannès di Laluke gab. Die ursprüngliche Kirche aus dem 8. Jahrhundert soll im 9. Jahrhundert von den Normannen und im 10. Jahrhundert von den Sarazenen geplündert worden sein. Im 13. und 14. Jahrhundert wurde die Kirche erneut niedergebrannt. Sie wurde sofort wieder aufgebaut. Im 19. Jahrhundert, zwischen 1854 und 1873, wurde sie noch einmal umfassend restauriert
Ein Teil davon ist die heutige Kirche, die im 19. Jahrhundert zwischen 1854 und 1873 restauriert wurde. Mit ihrer Apsis aus dem 11. Jahrhundert und anderen Merkmalen ist sie von historischem, künstlerischem und kulturellem Interesse.
Im Jahr 2007 wurden die Gemälde aus dem Jahr 1873 restauriert, die elektrische Anlage, die Beleuchtung, die Lampen und die Heizung (Teppichboden mit Fußbodenheizung)
