Das Dorf Deurne ist das Thema eines der berühmtesten Lieder in der niederländischen Sprache "Das Dorf". Dieses Lied wurde von Wim Sonneveld gesungen. Musikalisch ist es eine Coverversion von La montagne von Jean Ferrat. Der niederländische Text wurde 1965 von Friso Wiegersma (unter dem Pseudonym Hugo Verhage), dem Partner von Sonneveld, geschrieben. Das Arrangement stammt von Bert Paige, der auch das Orchester leitete. Sonneveld singt emotional über Wiegersma's "Dorf" beim Wiedersehen mit dem durch den Fortschritt ramponierten Deurne. Die bekannte Zeile aus dem Lied, Und entlang des Gartenwegs meines Vaters, bezieht sich auf den Weg neben dem Elternhaus von Wiegersma, dem heutigen städtischen Museum De Wieger an der Oude Liesselseweg in Deurne. Dieser Weg erhielt am 14. Oktober 2008 den offiziellen Namen Der Gartenweg meines Vaters.
