Dieser Bach wird vom Quellwasser rund um Woudenberg und von Rinnsalen von den Hängen des Gelderner Tals gespeist. Der Bach ist ca. 8 km lang und fließt von Woudenberg nach Amersfoort, wo er die Stadt an der Wasserpforte Monnikendam erreicht. Amersfoort wurde an der Stelle gegründet, wo sich zahlreiche Bäche vereinigen und als Fluss De Eem in Richtung Zuidersee fließt. Der Heiligenberger Bach leistet dazu einen großen Beitrag. Der Bach verdankt seinen Namen dem Gut Heiligenberg, das zwischen Leusden und Amersfoort liegt.
